Through result entry and rankings calculation component of SLM, trusted users (i.e. coaches, team captains) can register players and rosters, submit team match and individual results and scores, and approve matches submitted by opponents. The rankings calculation process involves validation of results, approval of unregistered players, the actual rankings calculation itself, a reporting mechanism with detailed statistics, and approval, final acceptance, and publishing of the ranking.

Summary of Features

  • Result Entry

The SLM Platform allows trusted users to enter match results through an intuitive, easy to use interface. Posted results are automatically published on the corresponding player or team's external web page.

  • Result Validation Logic

The optional two-tiered result validation mechanism is a critical component of the result entry and rankings calculation system, accounting for both accidental and malicious errors. Following a team's entry of a result into the system, the result is queued into the opponent team's pending list, and is not considered "valid" for rankings calculation until approval. After a set amount of days in the pending list without action by the opposing team, the result is automatically delivered to the site administrator to expedite the validation process.

  • Rankings Calculation

The computerized ranking calculation component is extremely flexible and adaptable for various league formats. The system is based on an assessed point value determined by the opponent's ranking. The weight of each win and loss is customizable by simply choosing the values assessed to each ranked player per ranking period. Thus, the system can be modified to, on one extreme, calculate rankings based purely on overall match record, or on the other extreme, base rankings purely on wins over top players. The implementation of the rankings is scaleable and can weigh different tournaments with varying importance and also assess increasing points for advancement to rounds in a tournament simply by applying a variable multiplier.

  • Reporting System

With each rankings calculation, a report is generated detailing each player or team's wins and losses, as well as the points assessed to each result. The report permits a visual inspection of the ranking to assure correctness and validity.

  • Rankings Publishing

Rankings are not made public until specified by the administrator. Following approval of a given ranking, the ranking is automatically posted to the corresponding external website. This feature allows rankings to be verified and also allows test rankings to be run to experiment with various ranking formulas and methods.

  • Versatile Results Display

Results are automatically published upon entry to the corresponding external website. The navigation structure allows users to easily view any team or player's results and statistics in a well-organized format through a variety of searching methods.

  • Straightforward Deployment of New Divisions

The platform supports the rapid addition of new divisions within a league. The system also allows for players in different divisions to enter results against each other.
